kOen moerman, visueel kunstenaar, is actief als videast,fotograaf en (audio-visuele) installatie-kunstenaar. Naast zijn eigen artistiek parcours bouwde hij ook een loopbaan uit via originele video-opdrachten en workshops.

Als videast onderzoekt hij hoe via uitgepuurd beeldmateriaal een sfeer, gevoel op te wekken.

De fotografie van kOen moerman is vrijpostig emotioneel.
Zijn typische beeldtaal met wazige en bevlekte fragmenten,
roept zowel sentiment als bevreemding op.
Elke foto is duidelijk een deel van een verhaal.
Het verhaal zelf wordt bewust niet prijsgegeven.
Technisch zijn alle prints analoog, bewerkt in de klassieke 'donkere kamer' met chemicaliën allerhande.

Hij presenteerde ondermeer werk bij vzw wit.h Kortrijk, cc De Spil Roeselare, kunstencentrum Buda Kortrijk,
Festival van Vlaanderen Kortrijk, ...
In de zomer van 2017 presenteerde KUNSTENFESTIVAL WATOU een selectie van zijn fotowerk.
Voorbije jaar werd ondermeer in Hasselt, Menen, Kortrijk, Wevelgem, Spiere-Helkijn en Roeselare nieuw werk gepresenteerd.

De laatste jaren is Moerman vooral geboeid door artistieke mengvormen, waar zijn visuele ideeën een dialoog aangaan met andere kunstvormen, van podiumprojecten tot land-art.
Zo werkte hij projecten uit samen met ondermeer Wim Opbrouck (aus der tiefe), het Spectra Ensemble (bezet), Martha Schwartz (secret gardens) en verschillende internationale choreografen
als Olga Mesa, Zoë Knights en Andros Zins-Browne.

Bij video-opdrachten hanteert hij ook steeds een eigenzinnige artistieke invulling. Enkele van zijn recente opdrachtgevers waren

Koen moerman started (after his artistic studies in photography and film
(kask Gent – Rits Brussels)) his international career as light designer and video-artist in especially
the contemporary dance scene.
He collaborated with different choreographers as Olga Mesa, Pé Vermeersch, Zoë Knights, Sidi
Larbi Cherkaoui, Andros Zins Browne...
Together with dancer Anneleen Keppens he created his video/dance-installation 'DUE ALL'
and created for the American landscape architect Martha Schwartz the video-installation
'The ChaotiC Rise and FaLL Of The wHite masked maN and other Common Acts'.
At the same time he developed his own work. He is not only working with video, but makes also
spacial installations and soundscapes.
Highlights are his installation 'The fabulous flea circus' (produced by Happy New Ears Kortrijk
Belgium), the creation of his own collective 'beeldcollectief' and several videoworks presented in
group-expositions in Europe (Belgium, Holland, Greece, Spain).
In 2012 he presented his first solo-exposition called 'STILL', a reflection on the end of the analog
cinema and consisting of several video's and installations.
In 2013 he created 'How to Dissolve a Financial Crisis', an audio-visual installation consisting
six monitors, where picture and sound influence and reinforce each other. In 2015 he created a-bove(a)//b-bove(b) (Festival van Vlaanderen Kortrijk) an installation consisting two screens interacting with a soundscape.
Recently he concentrates again on his photographical work, in 2017 to be seen at the Kunstenfestival Watou, one of the most important contemporary art exhibitions in Belgium.

kOen moerman's photography is consciously emotional.
His typical visual language with hazy and stained fragments,
evokes both sentiment and amazement.
Every photo is clearly part of a story.
